removing hardware compression
I have a HP server using an internal Benchmark DLT1 tape unit for backups. I'm using Arcserve as the software program to run it. I'm receiving the message about "compression is disabled due to hardware compression", so i know that the unit itself it providing compression rather than arcserve. The problem is it's only runing to 53 gigs on a 40-80 gig tape. Can you tell me how to remove the harware compression, so I can turn on the aoftware compression? With software compression I know I can get about 70, 75 gigs- and I need 65. Thanks.

Re: removing hardware compression
Allen, hardware compression does a better job than software compression. It be entirely related to the files you are backing up. perhaps this will help.
