SBS and Ultrium 232 in ML350

Hi, I have the above configuration and cannot get the 232 to be recognised by SBS inbuilt backup. Windows Backup recognises the drive and so does Device Manager. I have downloaded the latest driver.

Can anyone help me?

download the Library and Tape tools diagnostic from here to test your drive. Be sure to disable Removable Storage in the services section before running LTT

Re: SBS and Ultrium 232 in ML350

John,

What HBA are you using? Are you seeing both the autoloader robotics and the drive, or just the drive?

You need an HBA that supports multiple-Luns. If you do not have multi-Lun support, you will only see the drive (Lun 0). The robitics should show up under "medium changer" in windows device manager.

Please look at our EBS compatability matrix (at www.hp.com/go/ebs) to verify your hardware configuration is supported.

Re: SBS and Ultrium 232 in ML350

Understood.

FYI, The ML350 (is it a G4?) may have a smart array controller included, and that will not support multiple luns. Here's the ML350 G4 cabling reference: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/proliantml350/ml350g4-cabling-matrix.pdf

The 232 is not mentioned specifically in the external autoloaders section, but it is similar to the 1/8 VS80 which also uses multiple-luns.
