SCSI Card

I have a client running Win2000 server. It seems that the scsi card is causing the server to shut down and the OS to provide a memory dump.
This is the second card to do this. They are using an Surestore 8 internal tape backup drive. Is there a recommended scsi card for these drives?

What SCSI card(s) are they using?

Re: SCSI Card

Using HP products is the expensive route to go. Is the server under a support contract?

Re: SCSI Card

It used to have an 2904 Adaptec. But that started causing the server to crash. Then it was replaced with a cheap scsi card. (Tekram) which it used for a year no worries till it started doing the same thing. (memory dumps) Have tried new m/boards so that didn't make a difference. If it needs certain HP parts to work then the client is happy to pay for them.

Re: SCSI Card

At least it's worth to try to use Adaptec 2940 and look how system will behave. Are you really sure that SCSI card causes server crashes? Maybe OS (drivers)? Maybe incorrect bios/jumper settings? etc
