SCSI Error on MSL6060 FC Tape Library
Hi
we do backup our windows environment with DP5.5 over FC onto MSL6060 FC Tape Library.
(2 Tape-Drives on 1 FC-Router)
An intermittend SCSI-Error accures from time to time and kills the backup jobs.
Is there any one with a similar failure and how can we solve the problem?
Thanks and regards
Andy

Re: SCSI Error on MSL6060 FC Tape Library
1.Is your configuration using san switch?
2.Do you have many media agent with diferent OS?
If yes, Please do zoning for your server, Dont let 2 or more operation systems at the same zoning. split it.
At the windows, plese disable your library and exchanger. Let DP manage for that.
Thanks
Freddy

Re: SCSI Error on MSL6060 FC Tape Library
Freddy
thanks for your quick reply.
No, we have 6 win2003/sp1 media agents only and 1 win2003/sp1 cell-mgr/media agent. All drivers have been disabled.
All servers are in separate fabrics/zonings.
The failure in DP5.5: "SCSI-Error, Unit not ready [90:54]" after the tape-cartridge has been loaded into tape-drive and BOT is found but the media agent gets the error response after posing "Unit erady?" question to tape library for 6 times.
Tape-cartridge then will be dismounted and a very next job succeds even on the same tape-cartridge that failed before.
