SDLT 110/220 Media errors
We are experiencing a high occurrence of media write errors using the following config: Arcserve 2000, Windows 2000 Server, 2 HP 110/220 SDLT drives configured in the same device group. Using new HP tapes (C7980A) a media write error occurs on at least 50% of our backup jobs that indicates either the drive or the tape is faulty. The tape header gets written then the error occurs and the backup job stops. As I indicated, these are brand new tapes, just out of the shrink-wrap. The high failure rate seems to indicate something other than a bad batch of tapes is the problem. Any advice is appreciated.
