Server Processor Speed vs Tape Storage Throughput

In general, all else being equal, what effect would a server running a P4 2.4 Ghz processor compared to a server running a P3 1.0 Ghz processor have on tape drive storage throughput? I've seen lots of information about the effects of bus speed, drive speed, SCSI throughput etc. but not much on just the processor speed itself.

In your example I wouldnt expect much difference at all. Even 1Ghz is easily sufficient for a tape backup to run at max speed (speed of tape drive or scsi controller) without using all of 1Ghz.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...
