SSL 1016 DLT1 trouble with Backup Exec

I had the whole setup working great for months. Recently, a tape got stuck in the drive, and HP sent me a new tape mechanism unit. Pull out the old mechanism, plug in the new one, and voila. It works, so far as the drive itself and Windows 2000 are concerned.

However, Backup Exec only sees the DLT drive. I've tried all of Veritas's suggestions, but nothing has worked so far. Anybody ever seen anything like this?

I am experiencing the same thing, have you found out why or how to fix it? Sorry I don't have the answer.

Re: SSL 1016 DLT1 trouble with Backup Exec

We ended up having to upgrade to 9.1 and reinstall the drivers for the library (Veritas drivers, not HP/Compaq/Microsoft).

We are already on 9.1, it was working fine until a tape jammed, they replaced the autoloader piece and now Windows sees the autoloader but Backup Exec doesn't. I've tried everything short of a reinstall to get BE to see it but nothing.

What version were you on before?

Re: SSL 1016 DLT1 trouble with Backup Exec

9.0

I just checked my old archived emails and my solution from Veritas was pretty much upgrade to 9.1 (which is essentially a uninstall/reinstall) and then running the driver installer, with a reboot in between every step. There was an additional hotfix installed later because 9.1 was misreporting the overwrite protection of the tapes.

Nothing particularly high-tech or cutting-edge I'm afraid.

Got it to work, we updated the firmware on the library and it appeared in Backup Exec. Thanks.
