StorageWorks 1/8 Ultrium 960 tape autoloader and Smart Array 6i

Whilst clearly not listed in the EBS Compatibility Matrix, can the StorageWorks 1/8 Ultrium 960 tape autoloader be made to work with the Smart Array 6i conroller in the DL380 G4? If not, is future support planned?

Re: StorageWorks 1/8 Ultrium 960 tape autoloader and Smart Array 6i

I have HP Ultrium 448 (not exactly 960) and I found out this:
HP Ultrium don't works with SCSI controller:
- SmartArray 5i (server HP DL380 G3)
- HP Smart Array 6400 Controller

Controller does not see Ultrium, and it does not see HDD inside server.

HP Ultrium works with SCSI controller:
- Adaptec Adaptec 29160LP
- HP 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X Dual Channel Ultra320 HBA -this one was recomended by HP-man.

(I still have problem with my Ultrium 448, so I can not guarantee it will work on this Adaptec and HP Ultra320 HBA.)

I forgot to write:
I think, HP SmartArray controllers support only HDD, they don't support any tape device.
But it is only my opinion.

The Smart Array 6i does not support devices requiring multiple LUN support and there are no plans for future support at this time. Another SCSI controller will be required for use with this autoloader.

Re: StorageWorks 1/8 Ultrium 960 tape autoloader and Smart Array 6i

Thanks for your comments. We were able to resolve the problem with the tape 960 autoloader not being recognised by using the Ultra320, LVD, Dual Channel, VHDCI, 64-Bit/133Mhz, SCSI Adapter.
