Stray Tape: Insert Empty Mag
Have a stuck tape and receive this message.
Device: HP SureStore DAT 24x6
"Stray Tape: Insert Empty Mag"
Unable to eject; even after holding eject for forced one. Not sure how to resolve. Also been looking for a list of autorized dealers to fix it if needed, but haven't yet seen it.

Re: Stray Tape: Insert Empty Mag
This error usually means that a cartridge has been retained in the drive whilst its magazine was ejected. Try to push the door open with your finger, if you can, then there is no magazine inside, so just insert an empty magazine to collect the tape that is still in the drive. If you can't open the door, try power cycling the unit and carefully observe the messages on the LCD panel whilst it powers up. Look for other "Error x" messages, these may be more helpful to figure out why the magazine isn't ejecting. I can't recommend any particular 3rd party repair facility, but a quick "Google" reveals many such organisations.

Re: Stray Tape: Insert Empty Mag
I have a similar device which often loses the tape. Stray tapes will only be put into slot number 1 so take out any tape in that slot of your magazine and then the unit should put the tape in there. On one occasion it did take about 5 times to get the tape out.
