Surestore 1-9 write problems

A few weeks ago I had my drive replaced due to a jammed tape, the replacement worked fine for a couple of weeks but has now decided to throw up write errors on every tape. I'm running NT4 and Arcserve 2000, each time I load tapes into the magazine and try and mount them through Arcserve it tells me the media is unreadable, the display on the autoloader says 'Drive Error - Tape alert 20 - clean now'. I've tried brand new tapes in the drive and they were fine while I formated them, but as soon as i tried to remount them and use them for backup I got the same error. It's a really strange error as every tape I put in the drive becomes unreadable (even with another DLT drive with arcserve) after I try and write to it. This happens even though the drive passed all the read / write tests. Has anyone got any ideas what this could be? Email me for further details - Cheers.
