T1000e QIC-80 Drive with TR-1 Tape?
My HP Colorado T1000e external parallel port drive died so I bought two used HP Colorado T1000e drives. The drives read the 400MB QIC tape no problem and restored it using HP CB II Ver. 8 software, however the 4 TR-1 tapes (Travan) 500MB/1GB either will not read or if they do read there is nothing found on them. Is there something else I need to do software-wise or hardware-wise to be able to read the tapes. I would be very surprised if the tapes are truly empty as two of them seem to be. The other two don't read at all, just hardware error when trying to read them using Restore option of HP BC II V8 backup software in Windows 98 on an older Pentium 120 PC.

Re: T1000e QIC-80 Drive with TR-1 Tape?
A lot of it depends on what software was used for the original backup. Do you happen to know what that was?
