Tape backup - HP Ultrium 215

My HP StorageWorks Ultrium 215 Tape Drive (200GB compressed)can only backup 120GB data using veritas 10.0d backup exec.can only compress at 1:1.25. I need ther rest !!!..but how??

depending on the type of data you back up this may be all you can get on one tape. See this document for explanations of data compression. If your data is already in a compressed form you cannot compress it more.

Hi Chudi,

In addition to the above article provided by Lewis you can also run a compression test using HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools.

Once you have the utility installed, please ensure that you stop all Backup Exec services before running. When you run a compression test go to the test results Tab upon test completion and look for the compression ratio.
