Tape Backup

Why does my tape backup just stop within 2 minutes of finishing a 2GB backup? No error messages, tape stops, hard drive scan stops, only the elapsed time counter keeps going on the wizard. This happened twice in a row at about the same time remaining. (File being saved was different)
