Tape won't unload from drive

The only way the tape will unload is by using the OPEN DRV HANDLE from the front panel display.

I'll guess it is one of the 8 slot autoloaders.

Can you post more details.

Is your drive working fine and you can read/write but you can't unload the tape unless you use open handle? Is the drive not working and you have to use open handle to get the tape out?

If you can't get tapes out of the drive but it works can you get tapes out of the rear slots?

The drive seems to be working fine from what I can tell. I'm trying to install it with a new server. I haven't done anything as far as backups or restores with this new server. Everything worked fine with our old server.

When I turn the autoloader on, it wants to clean the drive. From the front panel I tell it which slot the cleaning tape is in and it takes the tape and loads into the drive fine and seems to work. It's just when the operation is done, the drive won't unload the tape to be returned to it's original slot. Sometimes I get a 92h error.

An Error code 92 indicates a timeout attempting to open the drive handle during a normal unload.

Do you ever get a B6 attempting to open the handle from the test menu? That would be the same error.

Do you have revision 2.12 firmware loaded? With a 418 it shouldn't be critical but it might help.

I don't recall getting any B6 errors and yes the firmware is 2.12.
