Hey,
I have a ultrium 960 external connectid to a HP DL360 blade server with a Smart Array 642 with 64 MB expension. Server has 2 GB internal Mem. and has lots of free disk space. backup software is veritas 9.1.
I have installed LT&T 4.0 But the tape drive does not show up in the utility.
When i make a backup with veritas 9.1 the backup takes about 60 Houres for 500 GB.. thats very slow.
Anybody?? Thx in ADV

Solution
Before you run LTT stop all Veritas backup services. Also disable MS removable storage service permanently. Verify that your block size in Veritas is set to at least 64k. 128 if you can.

If got it. I put in a old adaptec card.
And bakup speed is now 10x better. 1.4 GB per min. So thats nice.
It seems that the 642 array controller is not a good choice for this job.
