what is mean mail slot ???

i'm install MSL6030.
i'm seen user guide manual but not understand mail slot

i have 5 LTO tape.
1.mail slot is empty and 0~4 slot is tape.
normal?
2. mail slot is must config?

Hello Mark,

The "mail slot" it the access port to load and unload tapes. It's called a mail slot because it resembles a slot for dropping postal mail.

Hi,
Mailslot is optional for MSL librarys, you can disable mailslot and, use this slot as an ordinary repository slot. If mailslot is enabled, this slot can't be accessed from applications (e.g. backup programs).
