hp storeonce 3540 error

I have HP Storeonce 3540 Backup device which is required to be configured with Veeam backup & replication 9.5.

Veeam has bee  installed on Virtual Machine Esxi 7 and  Store once and Esxi Server (where Virtual machine VM created) are directly connected on Fiber Switch.

When I try to add repository from Veeam (running on Virtual Machine which is also gateway server) through FC connectivity, it gives following error:-

OSCLT_ERR_SERVER_OFFLINE. Err: -1404

Please provide help  /  solution.

Re: hp storeonce 3540 error

Hello,

OSCLT_ERR_SERVER_OFFLINE. Err: -1404 is a generic error that states the StoreOnce is not accessible hence it could be different issues.

Usually it is only the communication path between the server and the StoreOnce.

Try to make a connection using Ethernet and see if you get the same error. If that is the case you will need to focus on the FC link.

I see you are using Veeam 9.5. Why not upgrading to a new version? there are a lot of improvements on the new Veeam releases. Also recommended to have the latest software on the StoreOnce: 3.18.20

Here is the Veeam document on how to configure and use the backup with StoreOnce:

Re: hp storeonce 3540 error

Greetings @shahidmgh1,

There are two scenarios that you might need to look into:

1. With the 'Use Fibre Channel (FC) connectivity' box unchecked, you will use IP to communicate with the StoreOnce appliance. Thus you will provide either an FQDN or IP address in the field for HPE StoreOnce server name.

2. With the 'Use Fibre Channel (FC) connectivity' box checked, you will use FC to communicate with the StoreOnce appliance. Veeam gratuitously adds a "COFC-" prefix in the field for the HPE StoreOnce server name because it is expecting a COFC identifier from the StoreOnce appliance.

If you are using FC connectivity, check the box and add the actual Catalyst over Fiber Channel (COFC) identifier from the StoreOnce Appliance. The identifier can be obtained from the below path:

StoreOnce->StoreOnce Catalyst->Fiber Channel Settings tab->Identifier
