Restore from StoreOnce to Simplivity extreme slow
Ladies and Gentlemen!
We´re doing 30 daily Backups from vSphere 8 VM´s to our SimplivityCatalyst external Store.
Backing up is done for all our ~50 VM´s in ~1.5hrs.
Yesterday we tried restoring one huge VM - max Speed: 70MB/s
The restore started yesterday @ 18:53:43 and the first occurence in the VMware Event was 02:25:31 ~ 7,5 hrs later.
The Size of the VM is ~900GB. Effective Thruput ~ 34MB/s
NIC Uplinks are SFP28 (25Gigabit/s) on both ESXi and Simplivity
Omnistack, vCenter and ESXi Cluster (2Nodes) are on latest Versions.
Any idea how to increase Backup Speed or how to monitor the Restore?
What can we do to Pause or Stop the running Restore? (Canceling of the vCenter Restore Job is greyed out)
Best regards, Klemens

Re: Restore from StoreOnce to Simplivity extreme slow
Hi kletool1,
Best practices for HPE OmniStack operations
Tasks such as deleting a large number of virtual machines or deleting stale files from a datastore cause brief
periods of heavy I/O. Additional tasks (such as snapshot creation and deletion or datastore creation) further
increase I/O, causing all tasks to require more time for completion. In some cases, tasks might time out because
HPE OmniStack imposes a 20-minute time out limit per vCenter Server transaction. Errors such as platform
integration error or cannot delete file during file, folder, and datastore delete and create operations,
indicate that the vCenter Server timed out during the current task
For more information i am enclosing the link: HPE OmniStack 4.0.1 for vSphere Administration Guide
Thank you ..

Betreff: Query: Restore from StoreOnce to Simplivity extreme slow
Sorry to say, but there is no answer here to my questions.
It is a Restore from a Omnistack Backup to an external StoreOnce - Ask the StoreOnce and Simplivity development!
Have a good day, Klemens

Betreff: Query: Restore from StoreOnce to Simplivity extreme slow
Hi kletool1 ,
HPE StoreOnce
HPE SimpliVity supports HPE StoreOnce as a backup destination because it provides a cost-effective way to
preserve backups for extended periods of time on secondary storage.
When you integrate HPE SimpliVity and HPE StoreOnce, you can:
• Create backup policies with HPE StoreOnce as the backup target.
• Restore virtual machine data from HPE StoreOnce to an HPE SimpliVity cluster.
• Manage backups stored on HPE StoreOnce as traditional HPE SimpliVity backups.
NOTE:
The HPE StoreOnce solution is the only supported external store. Other third-party backups solutions are not
supported at this time.
For more information, see HPE StoreOnce Guidelines on page 130.
Thank you ..
