StoreOnce - CIFS access

Hello,

New with working with the HPE StoreOnce, but trying to access a CIFS share.  I have added my StoreOnce to AD, can successfully ping and the name resolves, but I cannot access the share or access the share through the MMC.

When trying to use the "net use" command I receive the "System error 50 has occurred, an unexpected network error occurred"

when I try to open the Shared Folders snap-in, I get "The following error occurred while reading the list of shares for Windows clients: Error 53: the network path was not found."

When I try to open via Windows explorer I get the "Windows cannot access the \\server\share

Any ideas of where to look next?  Verified name resolution.  My backup software accesses it via catalyst across the same IP address and I can access the Storeonce admin page so I know the device is reachable, but having an issue when trying to reach it as a CIFS share.

Any ideas?

Re: StoreOnce - CIFS access

Hello @df_hpeuser,

Since StoreOnce is an archival repository, you can archive the data for securing purposes. You will be able to create and store the NAS Backups (CIFS Share) from the NAS Storage.
But you cannot access/read the files from CIFS/SMB Shares. To access the files you must restore the files to the original NAS Storage device and read from there.

Re: StoreOnce - CIFS access

Hi,

I don't understand what @neutral means, but I did it this Way:

Add StoreOnce Name in DNS as Forward_Lookup A and PTR > nbtstat -R, ipconfig /flushdns
Name resolution must work
On StoreOnce switch in NAS Menu to AD and add the Admin User/Groups
Open MMC > (FileAdd/Remove Snap-in), add the Share Snap-In for Computer "StoreOnce"
Now add rights for the Shares
