how to reliably calculate useable disk space p4300 and p4500
Does HP offer an up-to-date calculator?
I'd like to check the actual / expected "useablle" storage (assuming network RAID 10) available with 4 p4300 nodes, with 2 p4500 nodes, and etc ...
Does such a tool exist, or if not where can I find a spelled-out process for hand-calculating it:
how many / what size of disks in x RAID 5 hardware arrays * number of nodes, - overhead, - net RAID 10 = total
(I guess I need to know what the over-head is beyond the hardware raid 5 and the network raid 10)

Re: how to reliably calculate useable disk space p4300 and p4500
only "overhead" I'm aware of is the disk capacity conversion.
http://www.ibeast.com/content/tools/RaidCalc/RaidCalc.asp is a pretty good tool for that.
As far as network raid10, just take the total raw capacity and divide by two :)
This does get a bit more complicated assuming you are using thin provisioning and snapshots, so the real question is what is the working raw capacity and how much storage do you actually need (take that number and multiply that by two) and what is your change rate (to figure out how many snapshots you can take).
