"Unrecoverable IO"

Just read an interesting thread on Spiceworks about some P4000 admins who apparently run into this quite frequently.

Apparently it's "game over" for that LUN.

Any info please as the thread scared the bejesus out of me?

Re: "Unrecoverable IO"

I ran into this problem once. I had a SANiQ volume formatted with VMFS and four virtual machines residing on it. I made a new volume, created a new VMFS, and moved my virtual machines to the new volume. While moving one of the virtual machines I encountered an error, something like "invalid file type."  I had to deploy a new virtual machine and use the backups of the application running on said virtual machine to restore.
