StoreVirtual and Quorum Witness

Hi All,

I am looking for some clarification for my HPE Storage study.

I got to the SoreVirtual and Quorum configuration.

What will happen in 2 node StoraVirtual VSA configuration if quorom will be not available?

Other question is in real word when you will stick to quorom configuration and when you will use Failover Manager.

Thanks,

Piotr

Re: StoreVirtual and Quorum Witness

Hi,

As long as your 2 VSA instances are working fine and can communicate with each other, you can reboot the quorum witness (FOM or network share) as often as you like... It is actually a majority mechanism, 2 out of 3 is actually a majority zo you are OK.

The quorum witness is only needed when one of the VSA's is out, or when you have a split-brain situation being a network issue where the 2 VSA's a arlive but cannot communicate with each other...

The FOM was the first quorum witness available, but since not everyone wants to deploy this little virtual machine the network share system was introduced as alternative.

Kr,

Bart

Hi Pitar,

Bart has given perfect answer to your queries. Please watch this video which describe the quorum requirements. Cluster quorum in split brain situation has been around for decades and works on simple majority concept.

Hope that helps.
