StoreVirtual VSA 12.7 + VMware 6.5 iscsi rescan vib
Hi,
my situation:
StoreVirtual VSA 12.7 updated + VMware 6.5 + iscsi rescan vib (metadata-hpe-iscsi-rescan_6.5.0-12.7.0.7-offline_bundle) for esxi 6.5 installed.
If the system start from poweroff (power on the host + power on VSA vm) the volume provided by VSA will not be available until i manually do rescan of the datastore and host storage adapters.

Re: StoreVirtual VSA 12.7 + VMware 6.5 iscsi rescan vib
Most likely issue with the MEM vib, i would recommend you to uninstall it if it is an option for you.
have seen several issues of vols not accessible when MEM is installed.
Regards
Ravi

Re: StoreVirtual VSA 12.7 + VMware 6.5 iscsi rescan vib
Hello IfiCons,
If unistalling MEM is not an option then i would open both VMWare and Storevirutal support cases in order tha we can ensure there is not any underlying configuration problem.

Re: StoreVirtual VSA 12.7 + VMware 6.5 iscsi rescan vib
Good afternoon,
SInce the OP didn't mention the MEM vib was installed, I'm not really sure this is the general issue. I'm having the same situation with several installations so far. Only the iSCSI rescan vib is installed (not the MEM) on ESXi 6.5 U2, but the volumes do not come online after the VSA's are booted.
Are there any settings we need to change to make it work?
Kind regards.

Re: StoreVirtual VSA 12.7 + VMware 6.5 iscsi rescan vib
Hello,
Check if your scsi drivers are up to date. (scsi-hpdsa, scsi-hpda, scsi-hpvsa)
Maybe it could be resolved that way...?
Kind regards,
Thanh

Re: StoreVirtual VSA 12.7 + VMware 6.5 iscsi rescan vib
Hi,
no solution since June?
I can see same behavior on ESXi 6.5 Update 2 with StoreVirtual VSA 12.7.
After some investigation I have found there is probably an issue with Python script in VIB package
hpe-iscsi-rescan-6.5.0-12.7.0.7.vib
http://vibsdepot.hpe.com/hpe/HPE-StoreVirtual/
http://vibsdepot.hpe.com/hpe/HPE-StoreVirtual/hpe-iscsi-rescan/metadata-hpe-iscsi-rescan_6.5.0-12.7.0.7-offline_bundle.zip
Script
/etc/init.d/hpe-iscsi-rescan.init
included in the VIB package calls Python script
/opt/hpe-storevirtual/hpe-iscsi-rescan.py
inlucded in the same package.
The Python script has incorrect EOL combination (CR+LF instead of LF only) so that calling the script
#!/usr/bin/env python^M
ends with an error:
': No such file or directory
After fixing CR+LF to LF script can be run but it ends with another error message:
[root@esxi1:~] File "/opt/hpe-storevirtual/hpe-iscsi-rescan.py", line 411
print "Interrupted by user. Exiting."
^
SyntaxError: Missing parentheses in call to 'print'
The VIB package was published on 2018-01-08, scripts are dated 2017-10-24 but there is no update up to now.
Nobody noticed anyhing?!
I have reported this issue to HPE.
