2524 using IP Phones

2524 using IP Phones

I have 2 2524 connected via wireless link, both switch have 2 VLANS created (vlan1 and vlan2) those two vlans are different subnet vlan 1 is for voice only(ip phones) vlan2 is for data only. When we put ip phones on it the voice is choppy, is nay way to solve the choppy voice?

Re: 2524 using IP Phones

You are going to have to provide a lot more detail if you want someone to have a reasonable guess of an answer for you.

For example, what brand/model of IP phones are you using?

What brand/model of wireless link? How much is the link utilized?

If you put the two phones on the same switch do you still have the same problem?

Etc...

Re: 2524 using IP Phones

Could be that VLAN1 is a poor choice for the IP phones. A lot of them want to use 802.1q tagging which is not used on VLAN1 by default. They also like to use 802.1p QoS to get rid of the choppy voice.

See

for details on p and q.

See page 120 in

(very large very slow loading doc) for details on how to set up the switch for priority. You want the latest firmware for this.
