5304xl
I have a problem with a workstation on a 5304xl (image-vers. 08.05).
the port to two the ws goes in undefined intervalls down an up.
no error-messages are in the logg and no errors in portstatistics.
the problem is with the onboard- nic (100) and the a 3com-3c996 (1000) on different switchports.
switchmode is stp
portmode ist fast
lacp is disabled
where has a idea for troublehooting?

Re: 5304xl
Question, do you have any problems woth other clients on the switch? If no, then I would check the workstation for any mallfunction. (driver etc)
Question, do you connect both Nic's at the same time? If yes, then don't.
Question, have you checked that the peed-duplex settings on the switch and the workstation are identical? If no, assure that the settings are identical.
Hint, Upgrade the firmware on the 5304. BTW the firmware that you claim is on the switch, E.08.05, was never released.
Kind regards,
SCOOTER

Re: 5304xl
this problem arises only with this one client
no, one NIC after the other one
no i have cheked speed or duplex, because no haven errors arose (crc or align. or coll.)
this problem with the machine was first very rare (1x in the month), steps now however more frequently on (1 - 6 x daily).
it goes a database application, this runs falls then in each case, since the link on the switch is down
firmwareupgrade is the next
thanks carsten
