Finding port from MAC address

Hello,

I'm new to HP Switching.  I'm trying find out the port that a device is on, from it's MAC address.

I am doing sh mac-address but it just says everything is on port 47, our CST root port for spanning tree.

How can I see the real port?

Re: Finding port from MAC address

Hi,

Is port 47 your uplink port connected to other switch? then its expected result that is learnign the mac address from that uplink port and you need to check the mac address  table or arp table on the other device. If the device in question is another switch, you can check ' show lldp info remote-device' command output to find the port on which its connected.

Thank You!
