GBIC Compatability
G'Day all,
I have a HP 4108GL switch and wish to use some Finisar FTLF8524P2BNV SFP GBIC's I have been given. They physically fit but that's about it, the switch does not seam to recognize them.
Any ideas?

Re: GBIC Compatability
Generally Procurve switches won't recognize other than HP original SFP:s, there is 3rd party that mimic the original, but that's it. You could be lucky that an older (or sometimes, newer) firmware will accept your Finisar, but that's something you will have to research.

Re: GBIC Compatability
HP ProCurve switches (now E series) read the vendor ID and will not work with SFP/SFP+ modules that are not specifically supported. You will see an error message similar to this on the console and in the logs.
