Help..!! Procurve 4000m

We had lost the console password to our 2 procuve 4000m's. Once I clear the password from the front of the machine, what is the default password to console in? Or do I need to call my HP rep for this.

Also can I clear the Password with out bring the switch down or pwr cycling it.? Thanks again?

Hi Jon,

On the 4000M, you should be able to hold in the CLEAR button on the management module for about 10 seconds to clear the passwords. This should not require a reboot of the 4000M in order to take effect. Once you telnet back into the 4000M, you should not be prompted for a password to gain access to the menu interface.
