How do I do an IP route between switches?
I have a 2600 switch with VLAN_1 being 10.10.10.2, with its gateway pointing to the 2800 switch VLAN_2 10.10.10.1.
Finally... I have a router connected to the 2800 switch with an IP route 10.10.9.100.
VLAN1/2800 switch - 10.10.9.2
VLAN2/2800 switch - 10.10.10.1
IP route - 10.10.9.100
VLAN1/2600 switch - 10.10.10.2
2600 switch gateway - 10.10.10.1
So... I want my devices connected to the 2600 switch to be able to route to the IP route on the 2800 switch. How do I do this?!

Re: How do I do an IP route between switches?
You need to do 3 things only:
1- Enable IP routing on the 2800.
2800(config)#ip routing
2- Add a static ip route to the destination network (10.10.9.100) with the router's IP as next hop.
2800(config)#ip route 10.1.9.100 255.255.255.0 a.b.c.d (where a.b.c.d is your router ip).
3- Add a static route back to Vlan2 network on your router with Vlan1 ip address as next hop on the 2800:
router(config)#ip route 10.10.10.0 255.255.255.0 10.10.9.2
Good Luck !!!

Re: How do I do an IP route between switches?
my Internet router's IP address is 10.10.9.100... which is directly connected to my 2800 router.
2800(config)#ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.9.100
(so all my devices on the 10.10.9.x connect to the internet)
but on my 2600, the devices on 10.10.10.x won't connect to the internet. It looks like the dns is resolved, but the page never gets displayed.
So I thought I needed to add a route to my 2600 switch??
Thanks!

Re: How do I do an IP route between switches?
My IP segments are seperated by VLANs and each VLAN is seperated by switches.
My 10.10.10.x VLAN is all the devices setup on the 2650 switch... while my 10.10.9.x VLAN devices are setup on the 2824 switch.
My router's IP is 10.10.9.100, and I have an ip route setup for the 2824 switch to use it.
But the problem is, if I configure my 2650 switch with #ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.10.9.100.... it tells me that it is not directly connected!
so what do I do?!

Re: How do I do an IP route between switches?
Also did you set the static route on the Internet router - 10.10.9.100 - which points the 10.10.10.0/24 network back to 10.10.9.2?

Re: How do I do an IP route between switches?
2800 vlan 1 10.10.9.2/24
untagged pcport
vlan 2 10.10.10.1/24
untagged pcport
tagged downlink port
ip routing
ip route 10.10.9.100
2600 vlan 1 10.10.9.1/24(or 10.10.9.3/24)
untagged pcport
vlan 2 10.10.10.2/24
untagged pcport
tagged uplink port
ip default gateway 10.10.9.2
basically, we use the Vlan 1(default vlan) to manager the swith, and other vlan to swithing or routeing..
