Lost password for ProCurve 4108GL

I've got a ProCurve 4108GL switch which was managed by an employee which no longer works with the company. Currently there is a password for all telnet and console connections. I know for a fact the switch is VLAN'd down to ports. There isn't any documentation on the switch except for things which are out dated.

Is there any way of obtaining the password with out reseting the switch? Since there are VLANs which aren't documented resetting the switch could be disastrous.

Hi Jason,

Simply hold in the Clear button for a few seconds, that should clear all passwords and the leave the switch configuration as is.

Thanks Matt! I'll give this a try. Do you know if this works on other ProCUrve switches suchs as 2524, 2650, and 4000?

Hi

Yes you can use the Clear button to clear any password without loosing configuration for both 2524 and the 2650.

Don't forget to assign points.
