Is there any hardware which acts as both Modem and LAN card ????

Well... that is an open-ended question. Do you mean HP hardware? What form factor?

I have an old laptop with a Xircom PC Card (PCMCIA) that is both modem and LAN NIC.

Have a look at the 3Com web site (www.3com.com). They seem to be a reputable company and HP use their products.
