ports going offline, then online.....
Hi
I have 4 2848 switches with a variety of PC's attached, with numerous errors in the logs showing certain ports going offline, then back on online. This process takes 3 seconds, but if LACP (even if it is passive) is enabled on that port, it adds an extra 2 seconds for a total of 5 seconds.
The ports that seem most affected are ones which have 1G NIC's attached, but even dropping both the NIC and port back to 100/full rather than auto, hasn't resolved the issue.
Can someone point me in the direction of some doco on this (I've searched HP site), what it's implications may be etc.
The switches are running I.07.32 which I am planning to update.
Any info on this would be appreciated thanks.
Steve

Re: ports going offline, then online.....
Take a look at the power management setting for the NIC.

Les
Thanks for the quick response.
I had actually disabled that in one "test case", and with your feedback I will monitor that particular port.
Cheers
