Printing Remotely
I have a printer behind a 2 routers at work. I would like to be able to print to it from a remote location.
Since I have two routers I'm not quite sure how to forward through both. One is the ActionTec DSL router from the ISP and the other is a Linksys. The printer and all computers are behind the Linksys.
Does anyone know how to set this up? Can I turn on port forwarding for printing or does the printer need to be in a DMZ?
The printer supports IPP.

Re: Printing Remotely
Erik,
Where is your printer? It sounds like you have the DSL router going to the Internet. You then have all of your systems behind the linksys router. Are you trying to print from the Internet or the local net? If the Internet, you will need to enable port forwarding at the linksys router. The DSL router is probably not filtering anything. I believe the port is 631 for IPP. Once you have that, you will need to know your external IP address. If that doesn't work, contact your ISP and make sure they are not blocking any port. A good test to see if this will work is to just make sure you can "see" your linksys router from an Internet source. Try to ping the IP address from the Internet.

Re: Printing Remotely
It looks like this:
DSL ROUTER IP = 1.2.3.4 (For Example)
Linksys IP = 192.168.0.2
Printer IP = 192.168.1.10
The DSL Router does DHCP and gives the linksys Router an IP. THe linksys gives the printer an IP.
How do I ping the Linksys behind the DSL Router? The DSL router has the firewall turned off.
I am indeed trying to print from a remote location over the internet.
