Procurve 2124 Switch
As a volunteer assisting a charity with their IT problems, I have been asked to install an additional network connection for a PC.
There are no manuals or records for which port goes to which socket.
I have 30 years experience in computer hardware, but little direct exposure to administrating switches/hubs/etc..
There are 21 PCs (mainly HP d530S) using the 24 port switch. I believe there must be an available port to use. I would like to avoid physically tracing all the cables through the building superstructure. Can anyone tell me if I can query the switch for port allocation?
Any tips or a link to a user manual would be a great start.
Thanks, Neil

Re: Procurve 2124 Switch
Hi Neil,
It's an unmanaged switch so... there is nothing you can do short of tracing the cables or disconnecting them one a time to figure out who is who.
If there is a free port, simply just plug a new client into that port. Otherwise you will need to determine with the Link LED's what ports may be available for use.
The manual can be located here:
