Procurve 2848 routing up to the task?
Hi,
I currently have three 2848 procurve switches on our network - does anyone know the recommmendation or maximum users if I decided to use the 2848 as our routing backbone?
Network comprises of around 12 2003 Servers, Exchange 2003 and Sql 2000. With around 70 client desktops.
Would the 2848 cope with this amount of network traffic as a routing backbone?
Thanks

Re: Procurve 2848 routing up to the task?
The 2800 series should handle that quite easily.
It's the 2600 series that sometimes meet up with performance issues when routing large numbers of hosts, but even with the above mentioned, I think the 2600 could probably handle that okay.
The performance limitation usually comes from the size of the hardware host route table. On the 2600 it's 128 entries, on the 2800 it's 4000.
The one thing you can't do with the 2800/2600 series which you may want to set later on is Access Control Lists.
