Hello

How do I eliminate the initial greeting on the HP 5406zl switch "press any key to continue" when I telnet into the switch?

I ask because I am using an open source tool to make backup copies of the switch config.

Anyone know?

I don't think you can remove that prompt (I'll have a play with my test switch) What's the software you are using for the backups?

We're using RANCID-2.3.2a9 with clogin/hlogin. We're able to get the configs from our Cisco routers, but not our HP switches.

It might not be very elegant but can't you just send a random character as a command after the password has been entered?

Thanks Faiz, but thats not going to help because we use the same script to backup other configs too.

Upgraded Rancid to 2.3.2 and it solved the problem by using hlogin (specify "hp" in the cloginrc file.

K.14.41 seems to fix this... so you may have to convert back to original script/terminal_emulation if you upgrade firmware

I am still not able to remotely execute any command on the switch using ssh/telnet.

Was anyone able to resolve the above problem? Is there any workaround?
