QoS on untagged VLAN 1

If Two VLANs are traveling a link, one is tagged and the other is not. Am I to understand that in order to get an higher QoS to the untagged VLAN, I will need to set the QoS as DSCP and not Priority? This is based on the fact that the untagged VLAN does not have the 802.1q header?

Re: QoS on untagged VLAN 1

In this case, if you set QoS as 802.1p priority, then it will never be detected at the downstream switch.

i.e if the packet leaves the switch through an untagged VLAN, then the 802.1p priority is dropped and the packet arrives at the next downstream device without any 802.1p priority assignment.

Hello Joey!

Yes, you can use DSCP to transmit QoS information about a untagged link. Then, DSCP needs to be end to end as information in your network.
