I have a smaller problem but its annoying and i wanna understand the reason behind the problem.
I have several 2626 switches with similar configuration, the only thing seperating them is the different VLANS's they are using.
They have the same password/users added (operater/manager).
The issue that im having is that 1 of switches want a login name when using telnet, the rest just goes directly to "enter password"
No radius is configured, and the only AAA I have in the confs are
"no aaa port-access authenticator active"
I have gone through the confs line by line but I cannot understand why just this 1 switch wants me to enter a username?
Anyone got a hint for a beginner?
Thanks

Re: Question regarding user login on a 2626
The reason is the one with username and password has enabled password with username different than the manager username.
To enable password, the command is:
Switch(config)#enable password manager
if you hit enter here, you will be asked for password they verify it.
Or you can use:
Switch(config)#enable password manager username
if you enter here, the user name you entered will be used as a manager username, and you will be asked to enter the password.
Good Luck !!!

Re: Question regarding user login on a 2626
I might understand the problem but let me check first
Is it possible that the guy who configured the switches made the "Switch(config)# password manager user-name manager" Which causes this problem on this switch?
And that I should just do "(config)# no password manager user-name manager" To remove that user and then it will be just default "manager" user on the switch?
