Remote serial console access?
Could anyone advise what cable & or adpater I would need to connect a Procurve 8212zl RJ45 serial console port to an HP Serial Console Server?
I've tried a straight through Cat6 cable & get no response. The cable supplied with the Procurve RJ45 - DB9 works when locally connected to my Laptop COM port so I know the port is working. We need remote access via our WAN to the serial console port.
I've attached the device cabling information for the SCS.
Thanks.
Al

Re: Remote serial console access?
I was just doing this recently with 3500yl's and 6600's using the supplied black cables to proliant dl360 servers and they worked just fine. Not sure why it would be any different with an 8212zl and the RJ45 cable.

Re: Remote serial console access?
To provide a remote telnet session via a Terminal Server (HP Serial Console Server) a standard straight through cable will not work. I am having to get a cable made up.
