2610-24-PWR crashes with TLB Miss: Virtual Addr=0x00000040 IP=0x8026a878 Task='tHttpd'

We have a four 2610-24-PWR switches.

Three of them did a spontaneous reboot two days ago en two of them did the same today.

Three are on R.11.16, ROM R.10.06 and one is on R.11.25, ROM R.10.06.

On two of the switches I saw an error message when logging in via Telnet:

  System went down: 04/26/12 10:42:25

 Saved crash information:

 TLB Miss: Virtual Addr=0x00000040 IP=0x802684d8 Task='tHttpd'

   Task ID=0x85d602e0 fp:0x00000000 sp:0x85d660200 ra:0x80267a7c sr:0x1000fc01

On the Internet I do find issues pointing to Web Authentication with:

  TLB Miss: Virtual Addr=0x00000040 IP=0x8026a878 Task='tHttpd'

      Task ID=0x85d025d0 fp:0x00000000 sp:0x85d024f0 ra:0x80269e1c sr:0x1000fc01

Which is not the same as we get and we don't use Web Authentication.

Any idease where to look next?

Thanks for your help,

Paul

I would tend to upgrade the firmware first: there are several known crash bugs, and even if the footprint isn't exactly the same it's worth trying.

If that doesn't fix it, then raise a support call.

The only thing that springs to mind (given it's failing in the httpd task) is that something might be scanning web servers on your local net. It might be worth checking firewall/web server logs, see if you can see anything.

Thanks for you reply Richard.

I've been looking at the available firmware last evening and think we can jump to the current version R.11.72.

We'll do 1 of the 4 switches in the evening or weekend and if that doesn't give other problems on Tuesday (we'renot working this Monday ;-) we'll do the other 3 and see if that solves the issue.

I'll also pick up on your remark about something doing a scan or something else. Both times we had the problem was at about the same time, but there was a day in between.

Thanks again and I'll update any news.

Regards,

Paul
