3com Office Connect Managed POE Switch- Retrieve IP address

Hi All

I have need of some advice please. I need to configure VLAN's on the above 3com switch but I do not know its IP address. I have a console cable connected to COM1 on my laptop and I wish to use Hyperterminal to get the IP. Can somebody please tell me the correct terminal settings, ie data bits , stop bits, flow control etc. I have it set at 9600bps, 8 data bits, nil parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control, is that correct please.

Hi Julian,

your terminal settings should be 38400bps and the rest should be fine, if it does not work please refer to the chapter "Getting Started with the Command Line Interface" in the manual, ie: http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c02965319/c02965319.pdf
