HPE 10GbE SFP+ unable to work with Aruba 1/10GbE SFP+

Greetings,

Need some help/advices here. I have a HPE FlexNetwork 5510 EI switch and an Aruba 1930 Instant On switch. I need to interconnect between these 2 switches with 1Gb transceivers.

Scenario A: On 5510 switch, I have plugged in HPE X120 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (JD119B) while on Aruba 1930, I have plugged in Aruba 1G SFP LC LX 10km SMF XCVR (J4859D).  The link doesn't work.

Scenario B: I replaced the Aruba 1930 with HPE 1920S. On 5510 switch, I have plugged in HPE X120 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (JD119B) while on 1920S, I have plugged in HPE X121 1G SFP LC LX Transceiver (J4859C).  The link is up and working.

Question: Are there any settings required in both 5510 and 1930 switches to make the link goes up and working?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @ArthurWong

Did you see any log messages when the link dosen't work ? What is the duplex on both end ?

Hi @ArthurWong !

Since same 5510-HI works with 1920, but not with 1930 most probably the issue is on 1930's side. While 5510 is connected to the 1930, could you get the output from the following command: "display transceiver diagnosis interface <interface_connected_to_1930>". Let's check what happens with signal strength.

Re: HPE 10GbE SFP+ unable to work with Aruba 1/10GbE SFP+

@jmpk @Ivan_B I have checked and seems like the 5510 10GbE port unable to detect the speed and duplex (1Gb) when both ends (5510 and 1930) are using SFP+ port. I have then manually set the 5510 10GbE port to 1000 speed and full duplex and the link went up.

That solved the issue.

Thanks guys.
