QoS policy per vlan
My organization is deploying a softphone on each of the PC and I would like to prioritize the audio traffic. The softphones need to communicate with a cloud SIP server so I created an ACL to match all traffic to the ip of the cloud SIP server. I then created a QoS policy that mark the traffic based on this ACL and applied to VLAN in because I thought this way it will be applied to all ports. The switch is a layer 2 switch and the gateway of the VLAN is on the router.
looking at the ACL the count stays at 0 all the time I started to wonder if this ACL is working. Does QoS per vlan only work on Layer 3 switch ( the gateway of the vlan has to be on the same switch this QoS policy is applied on)? If that is the case I will apply the QoS policy on each port then.
Any thoughts? and Anyone has a recommendation on how to do this type of QoS marking?
Thanks,
