Switches are spitting out these messages
Hello,
Our switches keep giving the following messages. Is this anything to be concerned about?
Ten-GigabitEthernet2/0/34: This is not a supported transceiver for this platform. HP does not guarantee the normal operation or maintenance of unsupported transceivers. Please review the platform datasheet on the HP web site or contact your HP sales rep for a list of supported transceivers.

Ten-GigabitEthernet1/0/34: This is not a supported transceiver for this platform. HP does not guarantee the normal operation or maintenance of unsupported transceivers. Please review the platform datasheet on the HP web site or contact your HP sales rep for a list of supported transceivers.

Re: Switches are spitting out these messages
Hello Jerry777,
This message is displayed when the transceiver which is used is not HPE or is not compatible with the system.
This may lead to unstable network or unpredicted behaviour.
It is recommended to use HPE genuine transceivers compatible system.
Hope this helps!

Re: Switches are spitting out these messages
Hi @Jerry777
Could you please provide output of below two commands to check if a genuine transceiver is being used in those interface or not?
display transceiver interface Ten-GigabitEthernet1/0/34
display transceiver interface Ten-GigabitEthernet2/0/34

Re: Switches are spitting out these messages
Hello @Jerry777,
There are two conditions when you can see such error:
1. As @-Alex- meintoned etiher transciever is not a HPE made
2. Sometimes due to software/hardware issue you will see the same message whereas it is HPE made.
Can you confirm the made or share the serial number if it is HPE made or share below commands output:
<HPE>display transceiver manuinfo interface Ten-GigabitEthernet2/0/34 -->This will show manufacutrer information
<HPE>display transceiver manuinfo interface Ten-GigabitEthernet1/0/34
and below will show transceiver information:
<HPE>display transceiver interface Ten-GigabitEthernet2/0/34
<HPE>display transceiver interface Ten-GigabitEthernet1/0/34
Hopefully you are facing issue only with these 2 interfaces?
Thanks!

Re: Switches are spitting out these messages
Hi @jerryroy1 & @Jerry777 ,
From the logs its clear that you are using non HPE brended transceiver in interface 2/0/33, 2/0/34 & 2/0/35.
<DMZ-10G - JG898A>display transceiver interface Ten-GigabitEthernet2/0/33
Vendor Name : MergeOptics GmbH
<DMZ-10G - JG898A>display transceiver interface Ten-GigabitEthernet2/0/34
Vendor Name : HP-M Cisco
<DMZ-10G - JG898A>display transceiver interface Ten-GigabitEthernet2/0/35
Vendor Name : LEGRAND
Non HPE branded transceiver might work but HPE can not provide any guarantee on stable network. This may lead to unstable network or unpredicted behaviour.
I would recomend you to use genuine HPE transceivers given in the switch quickspecs guide given below.
Hope I have cleared all of your queries.
