As far as the actual hp-ux upgrade goes, here is the documentation:

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/oshpux11iv3.html#Installing%20and%20Updating

What might be required for SAP or oracle I'll leave for someone more familiar with the products.

Hi:

Read the installation guides for HP-UX, SAP and Oracle! Make sure that you have a back-out plan (e.g. an Ignite recovery); and that your hardware meets the necessary specifications (including firmware).

For HP-UX:

http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-6552/index.html

Re: How to upgrade 11iv2 to 11iv3

The best practice is to cold install 11iv3.

update-ux has never been very reliable.
Expect a 50% failure rate.

But my setup is very big ,cold install may need more down time and reinstallation of all softwares?

I just completed upgrade using update-ux from 11iv1->v2 no issues. I think mainly you need to take of 3 things.

1. You need to have make_tape_recovery tape, so that you can go back to original OS at point of time.
2. Space (make sure you have enough space on root volumes).
3. Softwares. (Take an inventory of existing software and download for the new version)

Re: How to upgrade 11iv2 to 11iv3

Shalom,

how to "upgrade" depends on whether you want it to work or not.

upgrade-ux does not always work snd is not supported by Oracle.

So the way to "upgrade" is to do a cold install and reinstall the applications.
