Installing HP Proliant Support Pack

I am trying to install psp-8.26.rhel4.i686 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (NahantUpdate 4) however it is asking for the source code for the 2.6.9-42.ELsmp. I have checked the four source cd's but can only find 2.6.9-42.EL. Does anyone know where I can find the 2.6.9-42.ELsmp src rpm.

Thanks

Re: Installing HP Proliant Support Pack

Shalom,

That kernel source is either on the binary cd's or the source cd's for RHEL AS 4.

The sources are a separate download on Red Hat's site.

Re: Installing HP Proliant Support Pack

I have checked the Install CDs and Source CDs and can only find 2.6.9-42.EL source rpm. The PSP requires 2.6.9-42.ELsmp src. Does anybody know where I can find it.

Re: Installing HP Proliant Support Pack

The Support pack needs the kernel-smp-devel-2.6.9-42.EL.rpm.

There is only one source RPM for each kernel version, which is used to compile all variations (regular, SMP, largesmp, hugemem etc). It is usually not required, unless you wish to recompile the actual kernel.

For compiling kernel modules (=what the Supoort Pack wants to do), you'll need the -devel- rpm that matches your kernel version and variation. It includes the files that define the details of the kernel module API.

Re: Installing HP Proliant Support Pack

Thanks Matti

I had installed Kernel-devel and not Kernel-smp-devel.

PSP now installed
