npasswd and nis

Morning All,

I am trying to use npasswd with nis on HP-UX 10.20 (NIS Server) and HP-UX 11.00 (NIS Client). I have downloaded the npasswd program from the HP Porting Centre and replaced the passwd and yppasswd files (on the client). When I try to change a users passwd on the client my /etc/passwd file changes to the full map from the NIS server.

What do I need to do to be able to use npasswd instead of the system passwd on a NIS system. I am unable to change to a Trusted system or to NIS+ due to operational requirements.

Does anyone have a "How-to" document for this process.
