Unable to change the password of the user in Linux
Hi,
I just created wlsuser and trying to change the password of the wlsuser logged in as root
I tried to change the passwd of the wlsuser
[root@dev ~]# passwd wlsuser
PWplus validated password not used by stacked PAM password service module(s).
Changing password for user wlsuser.
PWplus: Checking password for wlsuser
New password:
Re-enter new password:
passwd: Authentication failure
In the /var/log/messages the following messages are captured
Mar 4 06:27:39 dev passwd: PWplus: validated password not used by stacked PAM password service module(s).
Mar 4 06:27:49 dev passwd.prepwplus: PWplus: setting minimum password length to 8
Mar 4 06:27:49 dev passwd.prepwplus: PWplus: LoadOtherInfo() unable to retrieve the gethostbyname for dev
Mar 4 06:27:55 dev passwd.prepwplus: PWplus: From Login=root, Uid=0(root), User=wlsuser, Password checks passed.
The Linux version is
Linux 2.6.18-8.el5 #1 SMP Fri Jan 26 14:15:21 EST 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Thanks,
Jagan

Re: Unable to change the password of the user in Linux
I had tested PWplus with some new Linux versions and found many problems. Never tested with RHEL 5, but try to uninstall PWplus and try again.
