Discover Madrid 2018: An IoT and Edge Update From HPE and Microsoft
Discover Madrid 2018: Latest IoT and Edge Updates From HPE and Microsoft
The world is awash in data. In 2020, there will be 21 billion IoT devices online. A connected factory will generate 1 petabye of data per day, through the ambient light controls, connected machines, access control, and safety systems. A smart office with HVAC, lighting, and connected meetings will put out 150 GB per day. A stadium football game with smart lighting, video, sound, and event security will create 200 terabytes of data per game.
The problem is, most of this data is not being used, often because it’s difficult to implement IoT and AI solutions that can help analyze the data and deliver actionable insights. According to McKinsey, business leaders seldom consider information from IoT sensors when making important decisions. They’re missing a chance to improve efficiency, deliver deep insights into operations and supply chains, and even develop new products and services.
The HPE/Microsoft Alliance
To thrive in this new era, you must rapidly adapt, scale, and innovate to seize the new opportunities that exist. But real success also requires a competitive edge. This is why many are leveraging the powerful HPE–Microsoft Alliance and using it to their advantage. It brings together HPE’s hybrid IT and intelligent edge solutions with Microsoft’s Azure, IoT, and AI platforms to deliver deep insights, speed time-to-value, and drive innovative outcomes.
Turnkey solutions for IoT and AI at the Industrial Edge
Manufacturers, oil & gas producers, and industrial businesses can use the following turnkey solutions and services to quickly implement IoT and AI at the edge.
- Azure Hybrid IoT Platform Architecture. Brings together on-premises cloud and public cloud to deliver streaming analytics, AI, big data, and data visualization using the Microsoft Azure Stack IaaS platform running on Edgeline Converged Edge Systems.
- Industrial IoT Starter Kit (IISK). The IISK is designed to quickly connect legacy equipment to modern edge-to-cloud infrastructure using the HPE GL20 intelligent gateway, Azure IoT Suite for connected factories, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Edition, and Softing’s dataFEED OPC suite.
- HPE Solution for Digital Prescriptive Maintenance. Combines services from HPE Pointnext with HPE Converged Edge Systems, Azure Cloud, and technologies from leading IT and maintenance partner technologies. The solution prescribes best maintenance decisions and automates actions to preserve capital investments in plant equipment and minimize downtime.
- Project Brainwave - Real Time AI at the Edge. Uses AI and machine learning to turn streams from video cameras and other sensors at the industrial edge into automated QA, performance analytics, and other insights. The solution uses Edgeline 4000 with Intel FPGA devices, Azure IoT Edge, and Microsoft’s Project Brainwave, a deep learning platform for real-time AI.
