HPE named a leader in Telco Republic’s Disrupter Quintant for Next-Gen Telecom OSS/BSS
HPE is helping telco operations reach their full potential with intent-based and AI/ML-driven automation. HPE excels in terms of its innovation strategy: Digital services, cloud and virtualization are the foundation of its OSS/BSS product strategy. CSPs perceive HPE as a reliable transformation partner with robust, mature, and scalable solutions in the OSS/BSS domains. Besides the high quality of its technology, HPE goes the extra mile to support operational paradigm initiatives on a service-delivery and professional service level, such as DevOps, agile and closed loop operations.
About the author:
Olivier Daures has overseen strategic marketing at HPE for the Communications Technology Group (CTG) since 2016. He has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and IT industry. Olivier worked first for a System Integrator (SI) before joining a CSP as a senior manager, in charge of developing a new generation of OSS/BSS solutions. He joined the former Compaq in 2000 as a product manager for the IP network management. Since 2000, Olivier has held senior product management positions within HPE in the IT Service Management (ITSM), Business Service Management (BSM) and telecommunications business units. Olivier holds a Master's Degree in mathematics and computer science, with a major in artificial intelligence.
In a recent article, I used an analogy to describe the operational challenge that CSPs face today.
I compared telco operations to running a successful restaurant kitchen. Each could potentially face a huge, sudden increase in the number of diners (or users) to serve. Without warning, the way they used to run things—all the systems and tools developed over the years to prep and serve excellent meals — won’t work anymore. According to Telco Republic, most CSPs make a similar statement. In fact, in their recently published report, Disrupter Quintant for Next-Generation Telecom Operations and Business Support Systems (NG-TOBS), June 2022, they note:
“Currently, one major strategic topic dominates the concerns of CSPs: How to manage the operational paradigm shift from traditional network to cloud-native and software-driven operations. This shift is compelling CSPs to reinvent themselves so they can participate in the digital economy, digital value chains and partner ecosystems.”
Telco Republic also reported that, “The new market for Next-Generation Telecom Operations and Business Support Systems (NG-TOBS) is dominated by the traditional Operations Support System (OSS) and Business Support System (BSS) vendors, who have the capabilities to lead innovation initiatives at scale”.
Both are interesting observations, showing that vendors such as HPE have a critical role to play in supporting CSPs by providing innovative technology that dramatically reduces risks as they set out on their digital transformation journeys. But there is more to share! I’m excited to relate that Hewlett Packard Enterprise was named a Leader in Telco Republic’s Disrupter Quintant.
HPE named a leader in the Disrupter Quintant
As you can see in the figure above, HPE is positioned by Telco Republic in the Leader Quintant (Disrupter) category. Telco Republic articulates how the Disrupters differentiate themselves in the following ways:
- They have the proven ability to support CSPs in their journey toward NG-TOBS.
- They address all NG-TOBS requirements with a single suite supported by professional services.
- Their solutions are future-proof and incorporate the most cutting-edge technology innovations.
- They excel by leveraging their collaborative relationships with CSPs and their ability to guide CSPs toward forward-looking architectures and use cases.
Furthermore, according to Telco Republic, HPE differentiates itself as follows:
- HPE has demonstrated ability to support next-generation OSS and adjacent BSS with high quality technology. Its OSS Orchestration is part of its wider OSS Operations suite (including adjacent operational tools, service assurance and AI/ML). Intent-based design principles address CSPs’ future automation needs.
- Operational innovation to support telcos’ operating paradigm shift in terms of cloud-native, AI-software driven closed-loop operations in an agile, DevOps mode. HPE is well positioned to reap the benefits of as-a-service, consumption-based digital business models and B2B business, enabling new value chains across verticals.
Telco Republic further elaborates on HPE’s strengths in their Disrupter Quintant report, pointing out that “HPE excels in terms of its innovation strategy” and “CSPs perceive HPE as a reliable transformation partner with robust, mature and scalable solutions in the OSS/BSS domains”.
Last, but not least, Telco Republic also shares recommendations for CSPs, including who, in particular, should consider HPE, including “CSPs that are looking to exploit their full B2B revenue potential with an end-to-end customer driven orchestration solution, augmented with AI/ML-driven assurance.” Telco Republic’s report also provides a crisp observation of telco operations challenges and pointed recommendations on what CSPs should do to succeed in their automation journey. I strongly encourage you to dedicate a few minutes of your time to its reading.
I’m particularly proud of HPE’s positioning as a Leader in this report. It is yet another proof point that HPE’s automation and orchestration products are being recognized for their value by our customers and the market; we are on the right path to help CSPs drive digital transformation, accelerate time-to-market, and move toward zero-touch automation.
